Taming costs more than a firefight

A strong dinosaur means hours of preparation, tranquillisers and food. Losing one takes a minute, which makes information more valuable than accuracy here.

What follows for the menus:

  • players, wild animals and tamed ones split into separate categories;
  • bases and boxes show where somebody else’s wealth is and whether it is worth a trip;
  • resources and nodes save the hours preparation is made of;
  • height gets its own attention, because half the events here happen in the air.

Console commands are a different story

A visible share of the demand in this niche leads to built-in commands. They work in single player and on your own server, are typed into the console and need no third-party software.

On somebody else’s server you have none of that. And another confusion lives next door: Ascended and Evolved are different clients, with different software.

The server owner switches BattlEye on

The game runs BattlEye, but unlike in shooters its state does not depend on you. Official servers keep it enabled by default, while the owner of a private server can turn it off.

One practical thing follows. The first question here is not which software but where you play: an official server, a private one with the anti-cheat and a private one without it are three environments with three sets of rules.

From visuals to a full menu

The range in this niche is narrow, and the choice is not made by counting features:

  1. Visuals only. Players, animals, bases and resources on the screen.
  2. Visuals with combat help. Aim assistance and target work join in.
  3. Full menus. Movement, world and raid preparation sections.

The choice here is about the server more than about features. The smaller the community, the closer its admins watch.

Questions that come up most

Will software for Evolved work? No. Those are different clients, and builds do not match.

Are console commands the same thing? No. They are built into the game and work in single player or on your own server.

Does BattlEye run everywhere? No. A private server can have it switched off, and that is the owner’s call.

Why put ESP on animals? For taming. Finding the species you need by marker beats flying the whole map.
